Understanding of the Workers in the North Area of Pusan on the Oral Health and Hygienic Status


Abstract
Cognitive faculty of the workers on the oral health status was assessed by questionaires which include the utility of dental health facilities, ability to improve oral health ststus and utility of general health organizations
More than half of the workers answered that they had abnormalities in their oral cavities and 60% of them had experiences treated in dental clinic. Among them 2.9% was treated by non-licenced dentist.
Most of the workers endured the dental pain (32%) or simply took analgesics (36%) to cope with the pain. In female group they hesitated to visit dental clinic mostly because of the pain, but in male group they do not visit female group they
hesitated to
visit dental clinic mostly because of the pain, but in male group they do not visit dental clinic mainly due to the lack of time(P<0.05). So, it is recommended very highly to install minimal dental equipments in the productive fields or to have a
company dentist to take care of the oral health of the workers. There was a significant difference in knowledge concerning oral health between persons who had experiences of dental treatment and who not. Dental clinics were thought to have
carried
out
patient education about the oral health.
Generally most of the workers thought that the treatments performed in hospitals or local clinics were effective. But treatment fee was thought to be high. Workers who had an experience to visit a clinic tended to think it less high.
